Making Your Website Design Live

So your website is now complete. The design and the content look great. You’re ready to impress your visitors and generate more leads. But how do your prospects and clients get to your new website?

The last step in the website design process is making the website live. In a nutshell, this means setting up your domain (http://YourBusinessName.com) so that it “points” to where your files are hosted. That way, when people visit YourBusinessName.com, they see your new website design.

The process of making your website live takes at least 2-3 business days. Depending on the complexity of your set-up, it could take even longer. Usually more domains translate to more complexity. If you have multiple companies involved (such as a website host, a registrar, and an email host), that can add another layer of complexity to the process.

Because email is a vital part of business operations, we here at Bop Design take the utmost care not to disrupt it. Our goal is to make your new website live with as little disturbance as possible. We want you to go on with business as usual while we make the website live.

Although Bop Design has an IT expert to assist with the process of making the website live, we often work with our clients’ IT consultants. If you have an IT consultant (or an IT department!) to manage your emails and website, we prefer to work with him or her. Your IT consultant you will already be familiar with your firm’s website and email set-up. We work closely with your IT consultant during this process, providing necessary assistance.

We recommend that you wait another 2-3 business days after your website has gone live to announce your new website design. This gives us a few days to monitor your website to ensure everything is running smoothly.

Once your website has been made live, we provide you with a customized website manual for your convenience. The manual contains detailed instructions (with screenshots taken of your website) for performing routine tasks such as editing content and creating new pages. We can also add on to the website manual as needed in the future. At Bop Design, our goal is to provide you with a functional, appealing, easy-to-update website that will last 3-5 years. Every aspect of the website design process supports this goal.
